Labor Day is about soaking up the remaining summer sun, good food, and creating moments with friends and family. To celebrate the changing of the seasons, we are grilling some delicious meals this weekend. The classics such as hamburgers and hot dogs will make an appearance as well as some new delicious dishes including Thai barbecue chicken, grilled salmon and even vegetarian grilled tofu tacos. Check out these dynamite recipes below.
Every Labor Day celebration should have a vegetarian options for our non-meat eating friends and family. Tacos are a crowd pleaser and are an easy way for guests to customize their meal to fir their taste preferences and dietary restrictions. These grilled tofu tacos are a meatless meal that are packed with flavor. Instead of going the Mexican route, these tacos have an Asian twist topped with Thai basil, daikon and sriracha aioli.
Hot dogs have come a long way from just ketchup, mustard and relish. These gourmet dogs are glazed with miso and topped with a variety of Japanese snacks such as seaweed, ramen and black sesame seeds. The combinations are endless, I particularly like my miso glazed hot dogs with wasabi mayo, crispy rice and black sesame seeds.
If you're going to serve burgers at your Labor Day barbecue, make sure they are stellar like these peppercorn crusted ranch burgers. Beef patties are coated in crushed peppercorns are seared on the grill. The finished burgers are topped with a slice of cheddar cheese, a creamy ranch barbecue sauce and chili lime crunchies.
Impress your friends and family with this grilled salmon with mango salsa. The fish is simply seasoned with salt and pepper before it is seared on the grill. The sweetness of the fresh mango salsa pairs deliciously with the bold flavored salmon.
Instead of serving the typical Labor Day fare, usually hamburgers and hotdogs, wow your family and friends with this Thai barbecue chicken. Bone-in chicken breasts and thighs are marinated with fish sauce, toasted sesame oil, chili paste and more for 8 hours before hitting the grill. The flavors are intense and delicious.
