Cured Meats Not Linked to Pancreatic Cancer, Study Finds

Good news hoagie lovers! Nitrates and nitrites used to cure meats were thought to be linked to pancreatic cancer, a particularly lethal form of the disease. But a new study from the National Cancer Institute shows no measurable link between eating cured meats and an increased risk for pancreatic cancer. Now there's just the little matter of the fat and salt.

Each year more than 43,000 Americans are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and 95 percent of those die within five years. 

Cured meats include bacon, sausages, cold cuts and ham.
