Cookie Artist Makes Oreo Portrait

September 4, 2011

Judith G. Klausner is the artist behind this portrait titled "Oreo Cameo." Klausner used toothpicks and sewing pins to carve this picture into Oreo cookie frosting.

Part of her reasoning for creating the "Oreo Cameo" is to remind consumers about the benefits of pre-packaged foods. In an era where processed foods are constantly at scrutiny, Klausner wants to remind the world that pre-packed food allowed women to stop spending their lives in the kitchens to pursue other interests and careers.

"Nostalgia for the culinary past--before packaged foods and high-fructose corn syrup--fails to take into consideration just how much time it takes to make three full meals a day from scratch," Klausner said.
