Legendary French chef and public television staple Jacques Pepin has been forced to cancel his book tour for his new book, Essential Pepin, after learning he would need to undergo hip replacement surgery.
Pepin was originally scheduled to appear at the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show this weekend in Washington DC, but has canceled that appearance. Other previously scheduled appearances in Boston, New York, Providence, San Francisco, Berkeley, Chicago, Phoenix and Seattle have also been canceled.
"I certainly do realize the great disappointment, disturbance, and extra work this will cause to many people. I am truly saddened to let down so many of you who, for the last several months, have worked steadfastly, diligently, and generously on my behalf to bring about a most impressive publicity tour," Pepin wrote in a letter sent out last week.
We certainly wish the chef a speedy recovery!
