Paul McCartney Speaks Out Against French Ban of Veggie Meals

December 17, 2011

France recently decided to ban vegetarian meals from schools and Paul McCartney is speaking out against the decision. The ban was put into place in October and disallows schools from serving meat-free meals, or from students bringing vegetarian meals to school.

“The French government’s recent decree effectively enforcing the consumption of animal products in public institutions is a backward step for France," McCartney said. "It goes against the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union by prohibiting individuals’ right to express their beliefs.”

McCartney has been an avid vegetarian and has even released a cookbook of his favorite meals.
