We are having a heat wave & it definitely feels like summer here in South Norwalk. Yesterday, toward the end of the day we whipped up Strawberry Watermelon Coolers and they totally did the trick in helping us beat the heat.

One of my favorite ways to enjoy my iced tea is with a fruit puree. If I had taken a picture yesterday I could show you my pretty peach tea I made. Alas, the boys and I drank it before the thought occurred to me to snap a picture!

The Little Ladies have a day off from school today due to teacher conferences. Our intent is to lunch along the Red Hook waterfront (therefore there will be no lunch post today) and spend some time outdoors before returning for a special treat.

When traveling, I frequently buy a few bottles of the local wines and/or spirits, seduced by their unavailability in Chicago. Especially when the dollar was stronger, vinous ballast would accumulate in my suitcases until the handles buckled and the seams began to unravel.
